摘要

為了瞭解現代漢語的句法關係（syntactic relations），本文透過對漢語的主要句法結構（syntactic constructions）的分析，以及對典型的賓格（accusative）語言和典型的作格（ergative）語言進行大較，得出以下的結論：漢語既不是賓格語言又不是作格語言，因為漢語跟那兩種語言不同，既沒有「主語」，又沒有「直接賓語」這兩種賓格或作格語言特有的句法功能。就是說在本文所探討的所有句法結構裡，找不到因有「受限的語意角色中化」（restricted neutralization of semantic roles）而持有特殊地位的名詞或名詞詞組。
