Abstract

Prof. Dai was a very important figure in the field of Legal History both in Taiwan and China. His work has great impact on today’s academic development of Chinese legal history and research method.

This article is going to review Prof. Dai’s Research by using the perspective of legal language and empirical legal analysis. As the first person who used modern legal language to analyze traditional Chinese legal system in Taiwan, he made himself a model to Chinese legal research. In his work, Taiwan Rural Governance in the Qing Dynasty, he adopted not only the method of empirical legal analysis, but also the comparative legal analysis.
