Selections of Buddhist Stone Rubbings from the Northern Dynasties

Introduction

Cite

Over three thousand stone rubbings from the Northern Dynasties are housed in the Fu Ssu-nien Library of IHP. Among them, one hundred items, including Buddhist statuary inscriptions, stele texts, as well as epitaphs of monks and nuns, are selected and introduced in this volume. It presents the fine calligraphy from over fifteen hundred years ago and at the same time provides scholars with precious original research materials.
