Dr. Ling-Wei Kung graduated with a PhD from the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures, Columbia University, in 2021. Dr. Kung specializes in the history of the Qing dynasty and Manchu, Mongolian, and Tibetan studies, with a research focus on the late Qing Empire, the history of exchange between Inner Asia and Eurasia as well as the history of science and of technology, including mapping and surveying. As of August 9, 2021, Dr. Kung will begin here at the Institute as an assistant research fellow and will be affiliated with the History Department.
