黃儒宣為臺灣大學中國文學博士，2013 年出版《日書圖像研究》一書。研究方向為戰國秦漢時期的數術、圖像、簡帛。數術是占卜吉凶的技術，反映古人心中對於外在世界的認識，各種宜忌更制約了古人的生活行事。圖像原本「視而可識，察而見意」，由於時代遠隔而變得隱晦，尤其是抽象概念、象徵喻意，需要扣緊傳世文獻，方能正確解讀。簡帛的整理工作，包括古文字的釋讀、詞語的考證；在此基礎之上，探究簡帛古書的創作，從剪裁取捨分析作者叙事立場，或從行文特點找出時代烙印；並且考察簡帛古書的流傳，利用六國文字特徵追踪文本來源，進而論述區域文化的交流。出土文獻材料即使看似零碎片段，若能妥善運用，便能讀出不同尋常的意義，增進思想文化的研究。
