Dr. Wei-chun Chen, who first joined the IHP in 1992, has retired as of February 1, 2024, as a research fellow. Specializing in archaeology with a focus on Southeast Asia, Dr. Chen has enjoyed a distinguished career of conducting practical archaeological surveys and excavations in the main island of Taiwan, Kinmen, and the coastal regions of Northern Vietnam, exploring the prehistoric cultural connotations, developments, interactions, and evolutions of Taiwan and its surrounding regions. Furthermore, Dr. Chen has carried out a number of rescue excavations and related surveys of archaeological sites, which have made significant contributions to the preservation and protection of cultural assets.
