ONISHI Katsuya, professor at the Graduate School of Humanities and Sociology and Faculty of Letters, University of Tokyo, has been invited to visit the IHP from Nov. 20–26 and will hold a lecture at 10 a.m. on Nov. 21 titled “Bird Script of the Wuyue State, China, and “Goō Hōin” (“Ox Jewel Precious Seal”) of Kumano, Japan: The Transmission of Chinese Character Beliefs from China to Japan.”
Prof. Onishi specializes in Chinese linguistics and paleography, focusing on Old Chinese syntax as well as excavated documents and Chinese characters of the Warring States period and Qin and Han dynasties. For more on Prof. Onishi’s research and publications, see:
