Professor Momiyama Akira

Professor Momiyama Akira, researcher at Toyo Bunko, has been invited by the IHP to visit from Dec. 20 to 27, 2022, and during this time, will be holding an academic lecture on Dec. 23 in the morning. Prof. Momiyama is a leading scholar in Japan in the fields of Qin and Han history as well as bamboo slips research. Specifically, Prof. Momiyama advocates the use of “paleography” in the study of Qin and Han slips to reconstruct the contexts of their production and usage through detailed observations of the original texts and their formats. Prof. Momiyama’s significant publications include The Administration of Justice in Ancient China 中國古代訴訟制度の研究 and Unearthed Textual Materials from the Qin and Han Dynasties: Forms, Institutions, and Society 秦漢出土文字史料の研究 形態・制度・社会, among others.
