The special exhibition “Signs of the Future: Divination in East Asia and Europe,” organized and hosted by the Germanisches Nationalmuseum (GNM) in Nürnberg in cooperation with Academia Sinica, currently features eight cultural relics possessed by the Institute, including two oracle bones, two Han dynasty slips, one rare book, two Han dynasty stone reliefs, and one document from the Ming-Qing period.
The exhibition is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and cooperating curatorial organizations include the International Consortium for Research in the Humanities (IKGF) at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg, the National Museum of Taiwan History, Lanyang Museum, and others. The exhibition was originally scheduled to begin on December 3, 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has been promoting its contents online as a “Digital Story.” In-person viewing remains dependent on the circumstances surrounding the pandemic. The special exhibition will conclude on September 5, 2021.
