Abstract

Dr. Kingo Kobayakawa was a legal historian trained by Kyoto Imperial University, Japan. He mainly devoted himself to the study of the Japanese legal history, but he paid attention on the research about oriental legal history more than ten years before his death. Through writing book reviews, he closely followed the frontier trends of the international academic community. And because of his distinctive comparative law consciousness, he had demonstrates a clear methodological reflection in his works. It was a pity that he died young, and the research tradition of the oriental legal history in Kyoto University was interrupted.
